WHO WE ARE

NEON CONSTRUCTION AND REPAIR

ELECTRIC GLASS COMPANY IS THE BRAINCHILD OF CHRIS DAVIES. CHRIS HAS A LONG FAMILY HISTORY IN THE SIGN BUSINESS AND HAS SPENT HIS ENTIRE CAREER IN THE SIGN INDUSTRY

As the founder and owner of two successful sign companies, Chris's Sign Service and Westcan Lighting Service, Chris has always had a passion and interest in the art of neon signs.

When the opportunity came to get into the neon sign industry, Chris took it. Purchasing all of the inventory from a long time neon shop that was closing, he hired Rob Gillette to continue working with his current clientelle and to train new tradesmen in the art of neon bending and sign construction.

"I'VE ALWAYS BEEN IN LOVE WITH THE CLASSIC NEON SIGN AND HAVE WANTED TO LEARN THE CRAFT. MY GOAL IS TO START AN IN HOUSE NEON BENDING TRAINING COURSE FOR ASPIRING BENDERS AND HOBBIESTS"

Currently Rob is training and mentoring Nick Davies in the art of neon bending. Proper training an apprentice in neon is a long process and one must be very, very patient.

A very basic explanation of the process is below.

First one must learn all of the safety aspects of neon glass production.

Next the basics of neon bending is shown. The apprentice must bend thousands of tubes before they can really say they are an expert.

Lastly the basics of creating a vaccum in the tube then filling it with neon gas, sealing and charging, or burning in the tubes is then taught.

To properly train a neon bender takes a minimum of three months. However we are designing some training programs for both hobbiests interested in learning neon lab setup and full training for aspiring neon benders. Contact us for more details as we develop these programs!
